After owning many different cars and trying many different polishes over many years, I decided to test each of the supposedly best products side by side on one car, so I got together with my business partner and set to work on his old BMW 3 series. We tested many different products and techniques and came up with some interesting results and conclusions.

What steps need to be taken to revitalise the dead paintwork of a car.

These are the stages that would need to be gone through to bring the paintwork back to life.

1. Wash and dry the car with a standard car shampoo.
2. Using a clay or putty block the paintwork needs to be cleaned of any tar spots, insect debris, tree sap and ingrained dirt.
3. The panels are coated with a paint cleanser and this is then buffed to a shine.
4. A wax is applied and then buffed to a shine.
