Register Clothing
We could do with having some sorted well before the event at Eynsham Hall so could those interested please let me or Tracey at Club Shop know as soon as possible, thanks to the 2 that have already expressed an interest, please could you phone Tracey with your orders.

Eynsham Hall is not too far in the future and we will have register parking available so please let me know of your interest if you would like to be have your car included on the register stand. We had about half a dozen at Bramham on each day last year so let's see if we can get a few more this year. I would particularly like to see a race prepared 968 if possible. And if anybody knows the contact details for somebody that owns one of the original turbos or possibly a converted one please let me know.

The 2 recent register events where the Lake District run and Rockingham Raceway.

Lake District.
Thanks to Adrian Williams for most of the organisation of this with Roy Parker of Parker and Parker. We met up at the Lancs and Cumbria region concours event at Garstang at about 9:30am. Then moved on to Parker and Parker for refreshments. As usual the hospitality shown was great with a visit into the workshops to have a peek at a couple of Cayennes.
This is a 911 owner looking for the engine.

Then it was off to Alexanders which is a pub in the grounds of the Castle Green Hotel just a couple of miles away for a lunch, at just £7.95 for a 2 course Sunday lunch the food was excellent and great value for money and helped to enhance the day out, if you want to have a lunch there contact Les on 01539 797017. Let him know you got the number out of the PCGB magazine it may help us out for future events.
It was then time to go on the drive itself. This year we chose to go the opposite way around that we did last year, but 2 things remained the same, the fantastic views and the chance to enjoy some nice roads, with 2 968 Sports leading we enjoyed it to the maximum. We went through Kirkstone Pass where we stopped for a comfort break then route again took in Glenridding where we stopped for ice cream and a relaxing view of Ullswater. Then a drive around the north side of Ullswater and up to meet up with the A6 near Penrith. The run then led us down the Eastern edge of the Lake District National Park through the A6 Shap road and then back to Parker and Parker in Kendal for a few quick photos and a gathering before heading back home. The weather was good so another successful Lake District run.

Rockingham.
I set off at about 6:30 in time to get there at 9am to set up the register gazebo, thanks to Adrian Williams for his help on the day setting up and then packing up. There were already a couple of other registers setting up when we got there. We got a great spot near to the refreshment stands and not too far from the toilets and a water pipe, which was useful for giving the trusty steed a once over with a quick wash, yes I took my bucket and shammy. Later on in the morning Dave turned up with his black Club Sport.
I have to say that the weather was more than a little changeable ranging from brilliant sunshine to the odd downpour to gusts of wind, which later proved to be a major problem to the gazebos. When we all set up the gazebos we thought that because of the wind it would be a good idea to tie them to the steel fence adjacent to our parking area. Unfortunately the wind got so high during the afternoon that some of the gazebos took flight and tipped over the fence. Luckily the 968 gazebo didn't suffer too much and with quick re-actions we where able to keep ours safe and on the ground. One thing I learned from this is don't park a car close to a steel fence that is only held down with a few weights around the feet. After this happened the grounds men came around with proper supports for the fence which would have been a lot more useful before the event.
The racing was a great spectacle, I was sat near to the chicane at the first corner and this proved to be a great spot for the ensuing action. Seeing up to three cars at a time trying to fit into a tight corner provided it's fair share of excitement, and some of the position battles with some very evenly matched cars made for great entertainment. The opportunity to go on the track was available and for £15 was very good value. Perhaps PCGB Motorsport could organise something similar for those who don't want to race their cars or spend £150 to £300 on a track day but just would like to experience having a run at a reasonable speed on a track even behind a pace car. If anybody would be interested just let me know and I'll have a word with Steve Kevlin to see what we can do.
Bye for now.

Castle Howard
I went to this one on the Bank Holiday Monday towards the end of May, and I have to say that I was a bit dissappointed. There was the display of tractors, a few trade stands (and I mean a few) and a load of cars that are for sale from the organisers. There was that RUF still in their posession that I mentioned in Novembers issue. The concours event had been on the Sunday and that may have been a better day. There was an earobatics display mid afternoon. I have been to some good events organised by the same people but possibly carrying it over to a third day was stretching it a bit.

Events
I have issued 2 invitations for 968 owners to come to register events over the past 2 months and on both occasions only 1 other 968 turned up (thanks to those 2 people). Why not let me know if there is an event you would like to see happen, I would welcome any ideas to help get members to events and raise the register profile.
